Art for Kids Classes

Children’s Art Class with Colleen Gianatempo

The instructional objective of this 10 week class will be to introduce children to the elements and principles of design coupled with using a different art medium each class.  Your children will learn how to use different materials and equipment and learn new ART vocabulary and if pertinent they will be exposed to art history as well as the masters of art.

Grades 1st-5th (limit 15 students per class)
Session 1: Mondays 4:15-5:15 pm —March 10-June 2 (No class March 24 and May19 & 26)
Session 2: Fridays 4:15-5:15 pm—March 14-June 6 (No class March 28, May 9 & 16)
Where: The Studio at My Daughters Wish, 2835 Contra Costa Blvd in Pleasant Hill
Cost: $15 per class plus a $20 supply fee— sign up for five weeks or get discount for all 10 weeks

MeColleen Gianatiempo
is an artist, graphic designer, photographer and teacher who is fascinated with the intersection of art and technology. With degrees from the Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles and the the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Colleen ran the graphic design division for Alphagraphics in Salt Lake City before founding her own graphic design company with over sixty clients. Later, she founded Imagination, a creative design company in the East Bay of San Francisco, which offers graphic design and commercial art services, interior design,custom watercolors and also creates photo slideshows to music on DVDs. An avid watercolorist, Colleen is a long-time student of Julie Cohn, an acclaimed artist based in Berkeley, CA. Red_dino2 As a mother of two young children, Colleen’s passion is providing instructional art programs to young children. She currently is one of the program directors for the PTA sponsored FAME (Fine Arts Mini Experience) program at Morello Park Elementary School in Martinez, CA, which teaches art and music to K-5th grade.
