What is an ATC?

An ATC (artist trading card) is a Little piece of art. They are intended to be traded among artists or given as gifts.  They are great warm up exercises and are meant to be created just to create, in other words no pressure.  Many of our designers run or participate in fun trading circles and groups.  Check out their blogs for more details.

Here is a great explanation from cedarwood.com

The very basics

As their name indicates, ATC are collectables, a brilliant idea born of the older sports-themed trading cards. The one rule that makes an ATC derives from their origins: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm.

To this rule are appended a couple of conventions. First, an ATC mustn't be sold, only exchanged, as the whole essence of these tiny works of art is about artists meeting (by correspondence or online if need be) and exchanging their works, thus meeting many artists and getting exposed to many personal styles. Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8...) if it's part of an edition. By definition ATCs are made in limited numbers, often no more than one of a kind. Unique ATCs are called originals; sets of identical ATCs are called editions and are numbered; sets of ATCs that are based on one theme but that are different are called series. Don't be intimidated by the concept of small editions or originals: very few people are anal about this. What most collectors really want are cards that were made with care. Based on that, numbers are meaningless.

That's all! The above is all you need to know to start making your own ATCs. Common sense dictates that they should be sturdy enough to survive mailing, and of reasonable thickness (unless you specifically want them otherwise.

I want to be Bari J

ok not really BE her I am not some crazy stalker, plus I really love my husband and kids so that would be weird, but in the bloggin sense.  Her blog is so filled with cool links and inspirations, I was like a two year old caught between a candy store and toy store.  I couldn't decide whether to stay glued to my computer or get up and create!   So now that I have three projects spread out all over my kitchen, dining room and office I am back on the computer giving her props!  My next quest is to get her to give a lesson on cool blogging (is that even what is called someone help me...really)  BIg Kudos to Bari thanks girl!  Visit her blog get lost, then come back and make some cool stuff for the pure enjoyment of it!

Oh ok how did I find her? Connie sent her in and Bari linked to our site on her blog which she told me about and I was supposed to tell you all about it, but that was a month ago, ho hum welcome to my timetable, so I found her card and thought oh this is the gal who makes the cool bags I need a bag (what girl doesn't) I want this one for all my stuff I haul back and forth: Connie_wipeable_pinkpaisley_full

Re-Cap

WOW what a crazy week.  It all started last Saturday when I had a killer tooth ache, so I went to the dentist Monday and they said you need a root canal NOW today, ok I am BIG wimp when it comes to the Dentist chair.  So I did it, the Dentist was great very nice and gentle didn't hurt too bad...Went home laid down for a rest, woke up sicker then I have ever been! Huge sinus infection, I guess your sinus cavities are like right next door to your teeth so anyhow was sick for three days.  Got back to work just in time for our sale which was AWESOME!  we had so much fun next year we renting a tent!  Through it all my darling husband was a champion and my daughters and MIL were so sweet!  So brush and floss everyone!

Back in the Saddle

I can't help but hum that tune under my breath as I type this!  Well after months of hiding from this blog I am finally back to posting...ahh but for how long you say...let's just say I have a little reminder to post at least once a week. (her name is Daniela) As most of you know we have been looking for a bigger space with parking, well we are so close to finalizing the perfect spot!  I can't spill it yet because I don't want to jinx it but stay tuned my friends.
Right now I am focusing on a new project for hire program and finding teachers!  if anyone knows anyone who would be interested send them my way!!!  I hired two new great employees Ann and Angela ( yep I mess up their names all the time you know me!)  Ann will be our scrapper in residence for our Friday night crops.  Angela is a great asset to purchasing and on the sales floor.
Plus I am revamping the website it will be faster cleaner and better...no I am not turning it into a car.  It is a headache but will be worth it in the end.
Well on the home front things are cruising quite smoothly DH is working alot of town lately which is a bit of struggle, but for the first time in a couple of rounds I finished my book for book club early!  The Historian I strongly recommend it if you like historical type novels, or the Davinci code type...
The girls are doing awesome I am continually so proud of them as they grow into little ladies.  Sedona is little pistol and Sierra is as forgiving as they come.  I have been lucky enough to do some of my own scrap booking lately and I will post those pages later, yeah!
I think I have rattled on long enough

techno girl

ok so I am totally hooked up, website, im, pm, text messaging, blog.  But when it all boils down to it I love my pen and paper. whenever I have new project in the works I grab a pad of paper preferably grid paper.  So my probelm is I have all these "tools" to keep me on time and not forget dates and appointemnts but none of them last a week.  The only one I was really good at writing down everything in was a comp journal I had last year.  I am sorry palm pilot, ical, and outlook I am going back to basics if it works it works! (adobe I still love you but please don't come out with some calendar program I think is going to solve all my time issues!)

where have you been?

not you of course,  me!  I knew when I started this blog it would be a challenge to post regularly. I used to journal everyday that was before kids of course.  It is weird I think back to my single days how simple my worries and thoughts seemed to be.  Now between work, kids husband and friends my mind never stops I always think oh I should blog that then the day gets away from me and well you know the rest.

So tomorrow is Sedona's first day of preschool.  We went two days last week to get her used to it, I stayed the whole time.  I am a little worried how she will take being left!  One day she seems so old for 2 and next she seems like still a baby.  I know two days a week is exactly what she needs right now, we are just not keeping up with her development, but I guess that is pretty standard for 2nd siblings.

Well I just finish my guilty pleasure, a payday with a chunk of 62% Schaffen Berger chocolate on top! it is  a bad one I know! but man it hits the spot perfectly chocolaty and salty.  signing off for now...

2 years!

I can't believe it! Time flies so fast, we had a great time at the store today thanks to all the wonderful customers who came to visit and catch up!  It's late now I have an even longer day tomorrow.  But I wanted to touch base after Vegas memory Trends.  It was a great time for me and dh.  We went this year without the family just the two of us and I think that was the best part!  The show was good but the QT with OT was the best part of the trip.  I saw a few old friends hi Mellie! and some great new lines.  I do have some new things coming to store I will post Monday a list with pictures.  Also many of you missed the 30% off coupon so I am sending one out next week that will be good until the end of the year on ONE individual item.

Thanks again to everyone and see alot of you again Saturday!

my own little Pollack

This was too cute not to mention.  The girls were painting out back and somehow Sedona thought she needed a little paint on her head.  It looks worse then it is no paint in the eyes or anything.  Mimi promises! I just love the look on her face she is  so intent on figuring out where to paint next.  Creative abandonment something we all reach for as we get older instead of just having it when your are young.

I need my stuff!

ok so here I am watching amazing race and doing a little work and all I can think about is all the un finished projects at work.  Not work projects but scrap projects. I originally thought it would make sense to move my studio to the storebut now I am double guessing myself.  I mean my prime creative time is 11 to 2am.  What was I thinking? Trying to be all effecient or something. So here I am going nutz about a page I have at work!  too funny.

On another subject I just got the email from Basic Grey their new release is so perfect. Two new Christmas lines.  Do we need them both umm yep! A cutie one called Blush too.

Ok I am going to go do some sketches of a new class I need to get started on!
night night

gearing up!

OK just sitting here no TV on, kids in bed & husband out in the garage...probably my last few minutes of quite for the next few weeks.  We have Memory Trends coming up,then the day after we get back we are having a HUGE celebration at the store for our anniversary. Then franticly prepping for Scrapexpo Sacramento.  I must interrupt this rambling with a side note:  I just found the spell check button!  yeah you are all saved from my awful spelling skills.

I lost my Patience with Sierra today and scolded her perhaps a bit too harsh.  A few minutes later she said " mom you know what I think you should do?"  "What Sierra?"  "I think you should apologize because you yelled a little too loud"  so I did,  I think it is OK to eat crow every now and again.  (with your kids not your husband lol jk!) Plus it got rid of the mother guilt right away!

oops I hear someone stirring...

October 01, 2006

ok so hubby and I just got done watching RV. Cute movie in a sappy sort of way. He looks at me and says "do you ever feel the world doesn't stop spinning?" I kinda laughed because you know it really doesn't I thought he was joking, then we both sighed because tomorrow is our day off and our day is so full! 2 birthday parties, soccer plus the normal target run etc... and we have to figure out this lighting thing for the electrician who is coming on monday. So yep, keeps on spinning babe! at least we are on this ride together... ahhh ok you all can gag now.

OK but really what I was thinking about is our trip to Montana things definately slowed down that lovely week. We are going to try and have some mini montana moments these next few months before the holidays. This one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I posted some more in my little photo album.Dscn1594
